An Immersive Coffee Experience in Marseille

On 26 November 2025, the French team of the Erasmus+ project BARISTA – Validation and Transparency of Barista Training Competences, Le Carburateur organised its national closing event at Brûlerie Moka in Marseille, together with partners from the consortium and around thirty enthusiastic participants.

After a full presentation of the project’s final results — the BARISTA curriculum, training materials, online learning platform and the sustainable coffee tourism guide — participants had the opportunity to dive into the barista profession through hands-on experiences.

Iris, manager of Brûlerie Moka, shared her expertise on the coffee market, sourcing methods, bean varieties and quality standards. The session continued with a live roasting demonstration, allowing participants to observe the different stages of this artisanal skill.

The event concluded with a cupping workshop, during which all participants were introduced to the art of coffee tasting: aromas, textures, flavour notes, sensory profiles… an immersive and engaging experience that highlighted the importance of the professional competences developed through the BARISTA project.

This rich and inspiring day once again showcased the project’s European impact: building connections between training, coffee craftsmanship and pedagogical innovation. A wonderful way to celebrate the end of the project in France!
